Important Road Closure information ahead of The Edinburgh Marathon Festival

The 15th Edinburgh Marathon Festival will take place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May 2017.

Supplementing the usual road closures that are annually in place for the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, Police Scotland with support from all agencies will implement an additional road closure on London Road between the junction of Easter Road and Blenheim Place on Sunday morning resulting in a diversion route using Easter Road and Leith Walk.

This diversion will be in place between 6:30am and 10:30am on Sunday for the start of the Half and Full Marathon so please avoid travelling in the London Road, Easter Road and Meadowbank area during this time. There will be considerable delays to travel time during this time.

It is important that you allow additional travel time over the weekend to reach your destination and that wherever possible choose to travel using Public Transport or using the dedicated Event Bus Services to alleviate or avoid traffic congestion.

Lothian Buses which would normally have picked up on London Road will now pick up from Elm Row and follow the diversion route.  The Event Bus Services will be available from the east side of  George Street and will follow their usual routes which are unaffected by the closures.

This additional closure has not been taken lightly so we ask for your assistance in trying to not travel to and through this area in cars during this time.
