In completing this entry I declare that I/my child are the minimum age for this Event.  

In completing this entry I declare that I, or anyone that I am paying for, will not compete in the Event unless medically fit to do so and that, in any event we will compete at my/our own risk.

I will abide by the laws and rules of the UKA and IAAF if applicable.

I accept that the organisers, partners, marshalls will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses which may arise in consequence of my/our participation of the event.

I hereby give my permission to pass my/our details to my chosen charity and to third party event delivery partners. I also give permission to use my/our name, quotes, video footage, photographic likeness for marketing and promotional purposes.

Stroke Association Terms and Conditions

I agree to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival as a Stroke Association charity entrant.

Please visit the Stroke Association website - https://www.stroke.org.uk/search?key=Edinburgh+Marathon+Festival (EMF 2021) or www.stroke.org.uk/EMF2022 (EMF 2022) to pay your registration fee via credit or debit card.

Please refer to the individual terms and conditions below for each EMF event and ensure these are read carefully before continuing with the on-line registration process.

EMF Full Marathon - I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £20 and agree to raise £495 minimum sponsorship.

EMF Half Marathon - I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £15 and agree to raise £295 minimum sponsorship.

EMF 10K - I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £10 and agree to raise £150 minimum sponsorship.

EMF 5K - I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £10 and agree to raise £150 minimum sponsorship

EMF Team Relay - I agree (on behalf of the team) to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £40 and agree to raise £495 minimum sponsorship from the team.

EMF Junior 5k - I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £5 and agree to raise £50 minimum sponsorship.

EMF 2k Junior Race- I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £5 and agree to raise £50 minimum sponsorship.

EMF 1.5k Junior Race- I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £5 and agree to raise £50 minimum sponsorship.

EMF Kids Kilometre- I agree to pay a non-refundable registration donation of £5 and agree to raise £50 minimum sponsorship.


By completing the application form for a Stroke Association charity place at an event organised by a third party (an “Event”), you accept and agree to abide by the following terms and conditions:

Your Charity Place:

• You understand you are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee outlined above (and any applicable VAT) to obtain a charity place for this Event.

• If your application for a charity place is successful, you pledge to raise at least the minimum sponsorship as detailed above (i.e. donations to the Stroke Associations), excluding Gift Aid. If your supporters are eligible to complete a Gift Aid Declaration they can use the declaration form available on our website.

• If your application for a charity place is successful you will be required to read and adhere to the any terms and conditions issued by the Event organisers. You agree to take responsibility for your actions on the day of the Event.

• You understand that your charity place cannot be transferred to any other person.

• You understand that if for any reason you have to withdraw your charity place we are not able to automatically defer this to the following year and you will not be entitled to a refund of the registration fee.

• You understand that if for whatever reason the Event is cancelled or the Stroke Association withdraws its involvement in the Event you will not be entitled to a refund of the registration fee.

Fundraising:

• You agree that all funds you raise in connection with the Event shall be raised using lawful methods and in compliance with any guidance provided by the Stroke Association to you in advance of the Event or given on our website.

• You agree that all funds raised shall be held on trust for the Stroke Association and you understand that you have a legal responsibility to ensure that all funds raised in connection with the Event are paid to us. We ask that you do this as soon as possible, but in any event within four weeks of the date of the Event and that you adhere to the ‘Paying in your fundraising’ guidelines on our website. You may not deduct any costs unless otherwise agreed with the Stroke Association. You can find further information on paying in your fundraised income.

Health & Fitness for the Event

• You are satisfied that you are sufficiently fit and able to take part in the Event. This is the sole responsibility of you as the participant, and if you have any doubts, please refer to your GP.

• You understand that you participate in the Event at your own risk.

• If you are taking medication which could cause drowsiness, or other side effects please seek medical advice before agreeing to these terms and conditions.

Behaviour at the Event:

• You agree that during the Event you will not behave in any way that may cause offence or damage the Stroke Association’s reputation, or which may cause injury or harm to other Event participants and/or spectators.

Publicity:

• You agree that the Stroke Association may use without payment, notice or further consent any photographs, videos and other images in which you appear which are taken at the event or event-related occasion by our employees or representatives or other person attending, in our website, social network marketing activities or any other relevant promotional material for fundraising and promotional purposes. The Stroke Association will not, however, identify anyone by name without their agreement.

Participation in the Event:

• The Event organiser may refuse entry to the Event in line with the Event organiser’s terms and conditions.

• The Stroke Association reserves the right to ask you not to participate in the Event if the Stroke Association, the Event organiser or their agents or representatives reasonably believes your participation in the Event could result in: harm to you, other participants or spectators; and/or damage to the reputation of the Stroke Association.

Liability

• You understand that as the Stroke Association is not the Event organiser it is not responsible for: any illness or injury resulting from your participation in the Event; or any loss or damage sustained by you as a result of the cancellation of the Event or any changes to the Event for any reason.

• Nothing in these terms and conditions shall limit or exclude the Stroke Association’s liability in respect of death or personal injury sustained or a direct result of:
o the negligence, breach or statutory duty or fraudulent misrepresentation of the Stroke Association, its agents or representatives; or
o a deliberate act or omission of the Stroke Association, its agents or representatives.

General:

• You have provided us with your personal information, which we will use for the purposes of: administering the Event (including sharing your personal data with third party Event organisers where relevant), processing of any registration fees and donations; stewardship of participants to help with preparation for the Event and with their fundraising efforts; and direct postal marketing of future Events and other ways to support the Stroke Association. We will use your personal information in line with our Privacy Notice, which explains how we collect and use your personal data.
• The Stroke Association may vary these terms and conditions from time to time and the up to date terms and conditions shall be available on the Stroke Association’s website.

• Any complaints should be communicated to the Stroke Association representative at the Event or, if that is not possible, then in writing to the Stroke Association using our Complaints Procedure.
