Erskine is a family. Our strength lies in the very special blend of dedicated care, compassion and understanding we offer to our residents and their families.
When Erskine was founded in 1916 our aim was to care for Service men and women who had been injured in active service. Today, care remains the cornerstone of our philosophy – but we do much more as well. As Scotland’s foremost provider of care for veterans, Erskine provides unrivalled nursing, respite and dementia care in our homes throughout Scotland for UK veterans.
Erskine offers a unique quality of care with the provision of physiotherapy, speech & language therapy and podiatry on site. Our dedicated recreation teams fulfill our veteran’s wishes with activities on site and out and about including ladies pamper evenings, concerts, trips to Ibrox and Celtic Park and not forgetting the extremely competitive and much anticipated annual senior sporting games.
The Charity operates four Erskine homes, caring for over 800 residents each year, providing veterans with the companionship of like-minded people. We not only care for our veterans – we care about them.
In addition, cottages for veterans and their families have been a feature of the Erskine estate for many years. Erskine’s estate in Bishopton is home to 44 single-storey houses, built to the highest amenity and energy conservation standards.
Following on from the Centenary year in 2016, Erskine are continuing to adapt and update services to meet the ever-changing needs of our country’s veterans. Amongst other projects (including refurbishing bedrooms, updating and introducing sun rooms and extending recreation), Erskine are working with RBLI to explore the development of a veterans village on the estate over the next few years. It is planned that this will include assisted-living apartments, single-living accommodation for veterans of working age, employment opportunities, and the development of additional cottages as well as a new activities centre which will be open to all veterans to bring the community together.
Our Service personnel display the highest levels of bravery and courage throughout the world, and it is only right that we, as a military charity, are there for them should they need us in the future.
