In completing this entry I declare that I/my child are the minimum age for this Event.  

In completing this entry I declare that I, or anyone that I am paying for, will not compete in the Event unless medically fit to do so and that, in any event we will compete at my/our own risk.

I will abide by the laws and rules of the UKA and IAAF if applicable.

I accept that the organisers, partners, marshalls will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses which may arise in consequence of my/our participation of the event.

I hereby give my permission to pass my/our details to my chosen charity and to third party event delivery partners. I also give permission to use my/our name, quotes, video footage, photographic likeness for marketing and promotional purposes.   

I/We understand that entry fees are non-refundable.

I/We understand my/our entry can be transferred to another runner only within the deadlines displayed on the website.

MS Society: Terms and Conditions

I agree to take part in the 2019 Edinburgh Marathon Festival as a MS Society charity entrant.

In return for your charity place, you must commit to raising the following (excluding gift aid):

• Full Marathon - £30 non-refundable registration fee , £500 minimum sponsorship (excluding gift aid)
• Half Marathon - £20 non-refundable registration fee, £300 minimum sponsorship (excluding gift aid)
• Hairy Haggis Team Relay - £80 non-refundable registration fee per team, £600 per team minimum sponsorship (excluding gift aid)
• 10k - £15 non-refundable registration fee, £150 minimum sponsorship (excluding gift aid)
• 5k - £10 non-refundable registration fee, £120 minimum sponsorship (excluding gift aid)
• Junior 5k - Raise as much as you can with a £0 registration fee,

I understand that MS Society has pre-paid for my entry in this event and that failure to reach the minimum sponsorship level will result in financial loss to the charity.

Please note if the registration fee as stated above is not paid directly to MS Society Scotland on the details below within 14 days of booking your place, you will lose your guaranteed place and be withdrawn from the race.

By entering this race, you have agreed to the following Terms and Conditions.

Section 1: You

I declare I will be 18 years or over for the marathon on the day of the event and will abide by the laws and rules of the SAL and UKA.

I declare that I will not compete in the race unless I am medically fit on the day of the race and that, in any event, I will compete at my own risk.

I accept that the organisers /sponsors /partners/ charity/ marshals will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses, which may arise in consequence of my participation of the event.

I understand that I will be taking part in this activity entirely at my own risk. I therefore do not hold the MS Society or any of its representatives responsible for any injury or loss that might occur as a result of my participation except to the extent that personal injury is caused by that negligence.

Section 2: Injury & Health

I confirm I will inform the MS Society at the earliest possible opportunity if I have had to withdraw from or cancel my event due to injury or other circumstances. I will do so in writing. Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund your registration fee and cannot guarantee entry in the same event for the following year although you will be able to apply for a place again in the following year.

If you are unable to participate in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival for any reason, all donated monies collected in support of the MS Society must be forwarded to the charity immediately or returned to the individual sponsors.

Long distance running is a strenuous activity and you must ensure that you are in good health. If you have a medical condition which could be adversely affected by exercise, or if you have any doubts about your health, we recommend you seek doctor's approval before taking part.

Section 3: Photography and Video

I also hereby give my permission to GSI Events to use my name, quotes and photographic likeness for marketing and promotional purposes.

Please note that the MS Society Scotland may take and/or use photos of you from the race day in our advertising or promotional material.

I give my permission to the MS Society to use photos / captions / audio / video of me at this event in any MS Society communication for a three-year period.

MS Society communications include, but are not limited to, newsletters, publications, marketing, press releases, websites, briefings, mailings, social media and audio-visual productions.

The MS Society will keep my personal details on file for the purpose outlined above. (We won’t pass on your contact details to anyone outside the charity without your permission).

Section 4: Fundraising

I accept that as an applicant, I must raise 75% of the minimum fundraising target 2 weeks prior to the event; failure to do so can result in the place being withdrawn.

Fundraising Guidelines and Agreement Form

I will:

Use my best endeavors to raise money for the MS Society Scotland , and not do anything to bring the MS Society into disrepute

Obtain and pay to MS Society Scotland all money raised six weeks after my fundraising activity

Obtain prior approval from MS Society before approaching any companies, press or celebrities to support my event

Not carry out house-to-house collections

Not collect in any public place without first obtaining a collector’s license from the appropriate local authority (usually the police or the council)

Not collect on private property (including shops, pubs etc) without first obtaining the permission of the owner

Not hold a raffle over more than one day without obtaining a license from my local authority

Make sure my event, and any third parties involved are fully insured and not take unnecessary personal risks

Acknowledge that MS Society cannot take responsibility for any losses made through my event or liability arising from my event

Return any unused fundraising materials that I will not require in the future to MS Society

Inform MS Society at the earliest possible opportunity if I have had to withdraw from or cancel my event due to injury or other circumstances.


Section 5: Place transfers

Places are non-transferable.
