The Association of Young People with ME (AYME) is the largest charity in the UK for children and young people with ME. With 3,600 members, AYME supports thousands of children, parents and carers, helping them to cope with the isolating and complex symptoms of ME.
M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Encephalopathy) is a chronic, fluctuating illness, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and sometimes diagnosed as Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS). It affects over 250,000 people in the UK, more than twice the total affected by MS. The prevalence may be up to 4.6% in children, much higher than has been generally recognised. In 2011, ME was found to be the most significant cause of school absence.
