Looking to improve your fitness, challenge yourself, feel part of a team and raise money for a worthwhile cause in 2025? Why not run in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2025 for Home-Start Edinburgh?
We would love to welcome you to our friendly team – we have a complete mixture of fitness levels, ages, running experience, and indeed enthusiasm! But we’re going to support each other to achieve something we can be proud of personally, while raising as much money as we can!
The Edinburgh Marathon Festival will take place on 24th and 25th May 2025. You can choose from nine distances including marathon, team relay, 10K, 5K and junior events – the half marathon has already reached capacity.
Raising money for Home-Start Edinburgh means you will be supporting our vital work with hundreds of families across Edinburgh. And, in turn, we will support you every step of the way. If you commit to raising a minimum of £250 for Home-Start Edinburgh (for the Marathon or Half-Marathon), you can sign up for a charity space with us.
• 24 May 2025: 10K, 5K and junior events
• 25 May 2025: Marathon, Half Marathon and relay
• 25 May 2025: Marathon, Half Marathon and relay
We will provide a running vest, supporter pack, share your fundraising page and connect you with our other runners (if you want).
If you have questions, please get in touch with Hazel, our Community Engagement Co-ordinator: [email protected].

About Home-Start Edinburgh
Home-Start Edinburgh provides practical and emotional support for families in Edinburgh with a child under 5. Our team of trained volunteers and staff support families through home visits, regular parent and child groups, and social events.
Parenting can be difficult at the best of times, and when families are also dealing with mental health challenges, struggling to make ends meet, or coping with social isolation, trying to keep everything going can feel overwhelming.
That’s where our trained volunteers and staff come in. We offer support, friendship and a listening ear. Whether it’s helping a family get out of the house or playing and sharing rhymes, creating spaces for families to meet others or leading a baby massage class, our amazing team fill that gap and brighten the lives of parents and children.
Home-Start Edinburgh can provide:
• 1:1 support at home from friendly, trusted volunteers and staff
• Groups to make friends and help parents to enjoy time with their wee one
• Social events and days out to have fun and connect with others
• Access to support for essential items like buggies
We try to build parents’ confidence and skills so they can manage on their own.
“To have that support and guidance, to feel like someone gets it and listens, has just been everything to us. I am feeling much stronger and sure of myself. I’m so glad I finally asked for help.”
supported family
Home-Start Edinburgh supports an ever-growing number of families. Last year, we supported over 375 families. In the first three months of 2023–24, referrals increased by a huge 45%. The challenge of raising funds to meet this demand is relentless.
