Edinburgh Half Marathon TRANSPORT INFORMATION

The events start at Potterrow. Potterrow is less than a mile from Princes Street.

There is a large capacity cycle storage facility at the Pinkie Road entrance to the finish area, found at what3words location - ///allows.locked.coherent

There will be EMF Event Buses operating for the Team Relay, Half Marathon and Full Marathon events for participants and spectators. Park & Ride EMF Event Buses operate between Newcraighall, Straiton, Sheriffhall and Wallyford Park & Ride sites, from which you can travel to the Start or Finish of the events.

Getting to the Start

East Coast Buses and Lothian Buses operate services to the city centre and close to the start area. Full details are available at eastcoastbuses.co.uk. 

If you live in the Cockenzie, Port Seton, Prestonpans areas or are residing at Seton Sands Caravan Park, you can get a Lothian Bus service. Full details are available at lothianbuses.com.

The Finish and getting back to Edinburgh City Centre

Lothian Buses operate services between the finish area at Musselburgh and Edinburgh City Centre. For more information please visit lothianbuses.com.

Getting to the start

The nearest train station is Edinburgh Waverley. It is around a mile from the start at Potterrow. 

The finish and getting back to Edinburgh city centre after the event

The nearest train stations are Musselburgh Train Station and Wallyford Train Station. They are both around 1 mile from the finish area. These trains will take you to Edinburgh Waverley. For more information please visit www.scotrail.co.uk

Edinburgh Trams operates services to the City Centre every 7 minutes from locations such as Edinburgh Airport, Ingliston Park and Ride and Edinburgh Gateway. Further details can be found by visiting Edinburgh Trams.

Princes Street tram stop is around 1 mile from the start area.

There is no event parking in Musselburgh. Parking restrictions will be in place, and Wallyford Park & Ride will not be available. Please plan ahead and use public transport or the EMF Event Buses. Do not travel by car.

The future of this event depends on the support of the local community. Unfortunately, last year illegal parking caused serious disruption, including blocked bus routes and driveways, and pavements made inaccessible for wheelchair users and parents with prams.

Parking in Musselburgh and surrounding areas will be strictly restricted to residents only. This will be actively enforced by marshals, Police Scotland, Edinburgh City Council, East Lothian Council, and EMF organisers.

• Illegally parked vehicles will be fined

• Vehicles causing obstruction or congestion will be towed

 Please help us ensure a safe and successful event by planning your travel in advance and choosing one of the many public transport options available.

Please note that Police Scotland will be present at the event, and take breaches of the road closures very seriously.  Please respect the road closures and do not threaten the safety of our participants and Event Team.  We will cleanse and reopen the roads as soon as is safe to do so.
